AI Recruiting, Guides & Insights

![Ranked list of HireVue alternatives for hourly and corporate hiring](/_next/image?url=%2Fimages%2Fblog%2Fhirevue-alternatives.png&w=3840&q=75)

The best HireVue alternatives are Classet, Paradox, HeyMilo, Harver, Spark Hire, Willo and BrightHire, and the right pick depends on who you hire. For hourly and frontline roles, Classet replaces the recorded video with a phone interview, and Paradox replaces it with chat. For corporate roles, Spark Hire and Willo are lighter, cheaper video tools, and BrightHire records and summarizes the live interviews you already run.

HireVue was built for enterprise video interviewing and assessments, and it is good at that. The question is whether your candidates can sit in a quiet, well-lit room and record themselves. A warehouse picker on a 2 a.m. break or an HVAC tech in a service van usually can't, while a finance analyst at a desk usually can.

If you want the head-to-head instead of a list, read our [Classet vs HireVue comparison](/compare/hirevue). For review themes and what HireVue costs, see [HireVue reviews, pricing, and alternatives](/blog/hirevue-reviews-pricing-alternatives).

## What HireVue does well (and what changed)

Be fair to HireVue before you replace it. It runs structured video interviews, a large assessment library, scheduling, and now a voice-based AI Interviewer that the company says evaluates each answer against role criteria, with recruiters making the final call, according to [HireVue's AI Interviewer page](https://www.hirevue.com/platform/ai-interviewer). It has a long enterprise track record and a global footprint. It also bought Modern Hire in 2023, so Modern Hire is no longer a separate alternative.

HireVue also stopped using facial analysis in its assessments. The company announced the change in January 2021, crediting improvements in language analysis, as [SHRM reported](https://www.shrm.org/in/topics-tools/news/talent-acquisition/hirevue-discontinues-facial-analysis-screening). If a colleague still worries about "the face-reading tool," that is old news.

Where teams leave HireVue is cost, contract weight, and format. Pricing is quote-only and sold through enterprise procurement. And the core product still asks hourly candidates to show up on camera.

## 1\. Classet: best for hourly and frontline hiring by phone

Classet runs AI phone interviews. Joy, the AI interviewer, texts and emails applicants within seconds, then interviews them by phone the moment they apply. Joy asks your questions, marks each knockout Met or Not met, and returns a structured summary, a transcript and the recording to your team or your ATS. A recruiter on your team listens and decides.

Where it beats HireVue:

- The candidate only needs a phone, so there's no portal to log into and no camera, lighting or Wi-Fi to sort out.
- Pricing is published. Starter is $249/month billed annually ($349 month-to-month) for 50 completed interviews a month, self-serve. ATS-integrated accounts start at $1,995/month and scale with volume and add-ons. See [pricing](/pricing).
- Joy interviews in 25+ languages, runs 24/7, and connects to [95+ ATS platforms](/integrations). Classet holds SOC 2 Type II.
- Candidates rate it well: 88% positive across 10,167 post-interview ratings on a four-point scale.

Where it doesn't: Classet has no video, no psychometric or game-based assessments, and no coding tests. If a hiring committee needs to watch a sales candidate present, this is the wrong tool.

Pick it if most of your openings are hourly, shift-based, or in the field, and your bottleneck is getting applicants to finish a screen. Our post on [why we skipped video interviews](/blog/why-no-video-ai-interviews) explains the reasoning, and [AI phone screens vs video interviews](/blog/ai-phone-screen-vs-video-interviews) walks through the trade-offs.

## 2\. Paradox: best for chat-based screening and scheduling

Paradox's assistant, Olivia, screens candidates by chat and text, answers their questions, and books interviews. [Workday completed its acquisition of Paradox](https://newsroom.workday.com/2025-10-01-Workday-Completes-Acquisition-of-Paradox) on October 1, 2025, and sells it alongside Workday Recruiting.

Where it beats HireVue: no camera, mobile-first, and scheduling is mature. Large frontline employers already run it.

Where it doesn't: answers are typed, so there is no recording to play back, and typing about a CDL endorsement on a cracked phone screen is slower than saying it. Pricing is quote-only. If you're not on Workday, watch the product roadmap after the acquisition.

Pick it if scheduling is your biggest headache and your candidates are comfortable texting. More detail in [Classet vs Paradox](/compare/paradox) and our [Paradox alternatives](/blog/paradox-alternatives) roundup.

## 3\. HeyMilo: best for staffing firms that want scored reports

HeyMilo runs AI interviews over phone, video and SMS, and scores answers against configurable criteria with written reasoning. It sells to staffing agencies, BPOs, and enterprise teams hiring at volume.

Where it beats HireVue: candidates can choose a voice call instead of a camera, and the scored report suits agencies sending candidates to clients.

Where it doesn't: interviews start from an invitation the candidate completes later, rubrics take setup time, and pricing isn't published. See [Classet vs HeyMilo](/compare/heymilo).

Pick it if you're a staffing firm and your clients expect a scored write-up per candidate.

## 4\. Harver: best for assessment-led volume hiring

Harver is an assessment company first. It offers predictive assessments, pymetrics games, Checkster reference checks, and one-way video interviews, and it absorbed Outmatch. Its site leads with volume hiring for contact centers, BPOs and retail.

Where it beats HireVue: similar assessment depth with a sharper focus on high-volume hourly roles, and attrition-oriented assessments for contact centers.

Where it doesn't: it's still a screen-based, multi-step candidate flow, which costs completions with field workers. Pricing is quote-only.

Pick it if you're replacing HireVue mainly for its assessments, not its video.

## 5\. Spark Hire: best for corporate teams that want simple video

Spark Hire does one-way and live video interviews. Unlike HireVue, it publishes pricing: video interview plans start at $249/month billed annually or $299/month monthly, per [Spark Hire's pricing page](https://www.sparkhire.com/pricing/), which notes pricing varies by company size. It also sells an ATS with one-way video built in.

Where it beats HireVue: price, speed to launch, and less procurement.

Where it doesn't: it's still video, with the same friction for hourly candidates, and assessments are thin outside the ATS tiers.

Pick it if you hire office and professional roles and want video without an enterprise contract.

## 6\. Willo: best for pay-per-role async video

Willo is a one-way video interview tool with an assessment library, scorecards, transcription and AI summaries. Its Lite plan is pay-as-you-go at USD 59 per live role, with an annual Enterprise plan above that.

Where it beats HireVue: you can pay for a single role instead of signing a year-long contract.

Where it doesn't: same camera requirement as HireVue, and the Lite plan caps you at five live roles.

Pick it if you run seasonal or campus hiring for corporate roles and want to pay only when roles are open.

## 7\. BrightHire: best for recording live interviews

BrightHire doesn't replace the screen. It records, transcribes and summarizes the live interviews your team already runs, and helps plan interview questions. Zoom announced it would acquire BrightHire in November 2025.

Where it beats HireVue: hiring managers keep talking to candidates live, and you get searchable notes and summaries.

Where it doesn't: a person still runs each interview. For hourly hiring at volume, that's the problem you were trying to solve.

Pick it if you hire corporate or technical roles and your pain is interview notes and calibration.

## How to choose

- Stay with HireVue if you hire thousands of corporate, campus, or customer-service candidates a year, you rely on validated assessments, and procurement already approved it.
- Choose Classet if your roles are hourly, shift-based, or in the field, and applicants drop off before finishing a video. A phone call fits how they already communicate.
- Choose Paradox if scheduling is your biggest pain and you're on, or moving to, Workday.
- Choose HeyMilo if you're a staffing agency that sends scored reports to clients.
- Choose Harver if you're keeping assessments at the center of your process.
- Choose Spark Hire or Willo if you still want video for professional roles, without the enterprise price.
- Choose BrightHire if your interviews are live and you want better notes, not fewer interviews.

If you hire both kinds of roles, you'll likely end up with two tools: phone screening for frontline roles and video or interview intelligence for corporate ones. For a deeper look at the video-versus-phone question with HireVue specifically, read [Classet vs HireVue for video interviews](/blog/classet-vs-hirevue-video-interview-platform). ## FAQ

### What is the best HireVue alternative for hourly hiring?

For hourly and frontline roles, pick a tool that doesn't need a camera. Classet runs AI phone interviews the moment candidates apply and returns a summary, transcript and recording to your team. Paradox screens by chat if your candidates prefer texting.

### Who are HireVue's main competitors?

For enterprise video and assessments, Harver and Spark Hire are the closest. For frontline screening, Classet, Paradox and HeyMilo. For live interview intelligence, BrightHire. Modern Hire was a competitor until HireVue acquired it in 2023.

### Does HireVue still use facial analysis?

No. HireVue announced in January 2021 that it had stopped using facial analysis in its assessments, citing improvements in language analysis. Its current AI Interviewer evaluates spoken answers against role criteria, according to the company.

### Which HireVue alternatives publish pricing?

Classet, Spark Hire and Willo publish starting prices. Classet's Starter plan is $249/month billed annually, or $349 month-to-month, for 50 completed interviews a month. HireVue, Paradox, HeyMilo, Harver and BrightHire are quote-only.

### Are video interviews a bad fit for frontline candidates?

Often, yes. Recording a video needs a quiet space, decent light, a stable connection and time, which candidates on shift or on a job site rarely have. A phone call removes those steps. For corporate roles where candidates sit at a desk, video works fine.

## Try a phone screen on your own roles

If your HireVue renewal is coming up and most of your openings are hourly, run a few real roles through Classet before you sign. Starter is self-serve, or [book a demo](/demo?ref=blog-hirevue-alternatives-bottom) and we'll set it up with your questions.
