AI Recruiting, Guides & Insights

![Alex AI alternatives compared: Classet, Paradox, HeyMilo, Tenzo, HireVue, CodeSignal, and Metaview](/_next/image?url=%2Fimages%2Fblog%2Falex-ai-alternatives.png&w=3840&q=75)

The best Alex AI alternatives depend on who you hire. For hourly and frontline roles, look at Classet, Paradox, HeyMilo, and Tenzo, which reach applicants fast by phone, text, or chat. For professional and technical roles, look at HireVue, CodeSignal, and Metaview, which lean on video, skills assessments, or human interviews with AI notes. The main split is channel: a phone call candidates take anywhere, or a video or browser session they schedule around.

Alex (the company was Apriora and now trades as Alex at alex.com) is a capable product. Its [homepage](https://www.alex.com/) lists AI interviews over video, phone, SMS, and WhatsApp, plus fraud tools called Verify, Identity, and Proctor that check applications, match a government ID to a live selfie, and monitor interviews in real time. It claims more than one million candidates interviewed and 33+ officially supported ATS integrations. Pricing is not published: the [pricing page](https://www.alex.com/pricing) offers a 30-minute demo and no numbers.

That fraud and identity stack is where Alex earns its keep. It matters most when you hire remote, salaried, or technical people, where proxy interviews and fake profiles are a real cost. If you're filling warehouse shifts, CNA openings, or service tech roles, you're solving a different problem: getting a busy applicant on the phone before another employer does.

## 1\. Classet: best for frontline hiring by phone

Classet's AI interviewer, Joy, reaches applicants by text and email within seconds and calls them the moment they apply, day or night, and candidates take the call from a truck cab or a break room with no app, camera, or link to open. Joy asks your questions, checks your must-haves, and sends your team a structured summary, a transcript, and the recording. A recruiter listens and decides who moves forward, and Joy can schedule the next interview for you.

You can start without a sales cycle, which Alex does not offer. Starter is $249/month billed annually ($349 month-to-month) and includes 50 completed interviews a month. ATS-integrated accounts start at $1,995/month and scale with volume and add-ons. Classet connects to 95+ ATS platforms, runs in 25+ languages, and is SOC 2 Type II certified. Candidates rate it well: 88% positive across 10,167 post-interview ratings on a four-point scale.

What you give up: no video interviews, no ID-to-selfie matching, and no coding assessment. If proxy interviews for remote engineering roles are your main worry, Alex covers more of that.

Pick Classet if most of your openings are hourly and your candidates live on their phones. For the full side-by-side, see [Classet vs Alex AI](/compare/alex-ai).

## 2\. Paradox: best for enterprise chat screening and scheduling

Paradox's assistant, Olivia, screens through chat or text, captures applications on your career site, and schedules interviews. Workday [completed its acquisition of Paradox](https://newsroom.workday.com/2025-10-01-Workday-Completes-Acquisition-of-Paradox) in October 2025, so it now sits next to Workday Recruiting.

Paradox is stronger than Alex at career-site capture and interview scheduling across many locations and hiring managers. If you run Workday, the fit is natural.

The trade-off is that screening is typed, so there's no call to play back, and typing answers in a second language is harder for many candidates than speaking. Pricing is quote-only and rollouts are enterprise-sized. Our [Paradox alternatives](/blog/paradox-alternatives) roundup covers who else competes with it.

It fits best if you're a large retail, restaurant, or franchise employer on Workday and scheduling is your biggest bottleneck.

## 3\. HeyMilo: best for staffing firms that want several formats

HeyMilo [describes itself](https://www.heymilo.ai/) as an AI recruiter that screens with "voice, video, SMS, and forms" in 20+ languages, and markets to corporate recruiters, staffing agencies, BPOs, and franchises.

Compared with Alex, you get similar format flexibility and a sharper focus on agencies and BPOs that hand candidate reports to clients.

The catch: candidates finish the interview when they get to the invitation, which can leave a gap between applying and talking. Pricing is quote-only. See our [HeyMilo review](/blog/heymilo-ai-reviews-pricing-alternatives).

Pick HeyMilo if you're an agency that wants voice and video in one tool.

## 4\. Tenzo: best for an AI recruiter that also mines your ATS

Tenzo's AI recruiter, Morgan, screens, interviews, and schedules over phone, video, WhatsApp, and email, and searches your ATS for past applicants. Tenzo claims 57+ integrations and says it holds SOC 2 Type 2.

Rediscovering old applicants is built in, which Alex doesn't lead with, and Tenzo's public case studies lean toward manufacturing.

On the other hand, pricing is custom, there's no self-serve trial, and onboarding is an enterprise project.

Tenzo makes sense if you have a large, stale ATS database and an enterprise buying process anyway.

## 5\. HireVue: best for enterprise assessments and video

HireVue's [homepage](https://www.hirevue.com/) now lists an AI Interviewer, skills and game-based assessments, live and one-way video, a career-site chat agent, scheduling, and fraud mitigation. Use cases run from campus to technical to hourly.

HireVue's edge over Alex is validated assessments and a long enterprise track record. If your hiring committees want structured video and test scores in one place, HireVue is the incumbent.

The weak spot is the same one Alex has on the hourly side: video asks frontline candidates for a quiet room, a camera, and a steady connection. We wrote about that friction in [AI phone screens vs. video interviews](/blog/ai-phone-screen-vs-video-interviews). Pricing is quote-only, and our [HireVue alternatives](/blog/hirevue-alternatives) list covers the other options.

Choose it if you hire graduates and corporate roles at scale and already run formal assessments.

## 6\. CodeSignal: best for technical roles

CodeSignal runs AI interviews for engineering, product, and design next to its coding assessments and live pair-programming environment. Unusually for this group, it publishes [pricing](https://codesignal.com/pricing/): Build is $79/month billed annually and Grow is $479/month billed annually, with a custom Pro tier.

It goes further than Alex on actual coding work, and for a software engineer, watching someone solve a problem tells you more than a conversational interview.

It isn't built for hourly volume or phone-first candidates.

It's the pick if your open roles are mostly engineering.

## 7\. Metaview: best if humans run the interviews

Metaview takes a different route. Instead of an AI conducting the interview, it takes notes, fills scorecards, and drafts follow-ups for interviews your team runs, and adds agents for sourcing, application review, and booking screening calls.

Hiring managers stay in every conversation, which suits senior and specialized roles.

It doesn't replace the first screen, so recruiter hours per hire stay higher. Paid pricing isn't listed on its homepage.

Pick it if you want better interview data, not fewer interviews.

## How to choose

- **Choose Alex if** you hire remote professional or technical staff, want video, phone, SMS, and WhatsApp in one place, and need identity checks and interview proctoring. Few tools match its fraud stack.
- **Choose Classet if** most of your openings are hourly, your applicants won't sit for a video, and you want to test with real candidates this week at a published price.
- **Choose Paradox if** you're on Workday and scheduling is the bottleneck.
- **Choose HeyMilo if** you're an agency that wants several screening formats.
- **Choose Tenzo if** reactivating past applicants matters as much as screening new ones.
- **Choose HireVue if** you need validated assessments across many corporate roles.
- **Choose CodeSignal if** the job is writing code.
- **Choose Metaview if** humans will keep running interviews and you want the notes handled.

If you hire both kinds of roles, split the stack: a phone-first tool for the hourly side and Alex, HireVue, or CodeSignal for salaried roles. Fraud looks different on each side, too. Our guide to [detecting fake candidates](/blog/how-to-detect-fake-candidates) covers what to check in both. For why we chose voice over video, read [why we don't do video AI interviews](/blog/why-no-video-ai-interviews).

## Frequently asked questions

### What are the best Alex AI alternatives?

For hourly and frontline hiring: Classet, Paradox, HeyMilo, and Tenzo. For professional and technical hiring: HireVue, CodeSignal, and Metaview. Choose based on the channel your candidates will use, a phone call or a scheduled video or browser session.

### How much does Alex AI cost?

Alex doesn't publish pricing. Its pricing page leads to a 30-minute demo request, so you get a quote through sales. Among the alternatives here, Classet and CodeSignal publish prices. Classet's Starter tier is $249/month billed annually ($349 month-to-month).

### Is Alex the same company as Apriora?

Yes. Apriora Inc. now does business as Alex, and apriora.ai redirects to alex.com. If you're searching for Apriora alternatives, you're looking at the same product.

### Is Alex a good fit for hourly hiring?

It can be. Alex offers phone and SMS, and lists retail, hospitality, and healthcare among its industries. Its biggest strengths, though, are video and identity verification, which matter more for remote and professional roles. If phone screening is the main job, a phone-first tool is simpler and faster to start.

### Which Alex alternative is best for technical interviews?

CodeSignal, because it pairs AI interviews with coding assessments and a live coding environment. HireVue is the other option if you want technical assessments inside a broader enterprise suite.

## See it on your own roles

If most of your openings are hourly, the quickest test is to send Joy a few real applicants and listen to the recordings. [Book a demo](/demo?ref=blog-alex-ai-alternatives-bottom) and we'll set it up on one of your roles.
